The Free Books Project is kicking off our Free Events Series at The Free Books Place this Saturday, September 30!
Artists and organizers will gather every 2nd and 4th Saturday of the month to share their creativity and the joy of literacy with our community, and you’re invited! Featured guests will present music, literature, visual arts, theater and movement inspired by their favorite stories and poems from the beautifully diverse cultures that make up Camden County. Come spend Saturdays with us to enjoy the fun and bring a few books home!
Here’s the agenda:
10-11AM: Reet will lead a poetry reading, and Nadïne will share a Haitian communal storytelling tradition for kids called Krik? Krak! to include a tale and a tune.
11AM-12PM: Break for book browsing and snacks.
12-1PM: Led by Reet and Nadïne and using the ‘Exquisite Corpse’ game, participants will take turns drawing characters from the morning poetry reading and Krik? Krak! storytelling session on sheets of paper, which will be folded and passed around the room to create a blind collective collage.
Join us at 808 Cooper Street!
